From Bali to Marrakech: A Decade of International Climate Negotiations
as Told by the Earth Negotiations Bulletin
Co-edited with Jennifer Allan, Rishikesh Ram Bhandary, Alice Bisiaux, Pamela Chasek, Natalie Jones, Anna Schulz, Cleo Verkuijl and Bryndis Woods
Publisher: International Institute for Sustainable Development
Date: October 2017
Governments, non-governmental organizations, the media, and academics have relied on the Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) as an indispensable record of many negotiating processes over the past 25 years, including, and most notably for this book, the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This book builds on the ENB coverage of climate change negotiations and provides an overview of the journey of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) during the decade from 2007-2016. Each chapter represents a year of climate negotiations based on the ENB’s analysis of each session of the COP. We have also included a summary of each intersessional period to add the necessary context and tie the analyses together.

The Gulf Monarchies and Climate Change:
Abu Dhabi and Qatar in an Era of Natural Unsustainability
Publisher: Hurst & Co
Date: November 2012
As a result of their booming economies, the Gulf monarchies’ surging electricity and water demand have exerted unexpected pressures on domestic energy supply. Simultaneously, the consolidation of climate change on the international agenda has created new uncertainties for the oil and natural gas-dependent economies. Meanwhile domestic resource consumption, together with climate change, are putting unprecedented stress on the region’s fragile desert environment. Luomi reveals how Abu Dhabi and Qatar have responded to these new natural resource-related pressures.
